is Scientific Director at the Oriental Dept. of the German Archaeological Institute, Berlin (Germany). From May to August 2003, she was a member of the UNESCO Experts Group on the Safeguarding of Iraqi Cultural Heritage. Her archaeological activities took her, above all, to the Iraq and Lebanon. As a student, she participated in and wrote up part of the Uruk Survey. Later she conducted excavations at Uruk as field Director and, as research member of the Uruk project, she was in charge of the final publication of the archaeological results. She published two monographs resp. on small finds from Uruk and on the Eanna sanctuary in the Ur III and Old Babylonian periods. Another monograph is concerned with Baalbek (Lebanon), where she did research as Acting Member of the Lebanese-German Scientific Committee in preparation of a museum and exhibition and, following that, as Director of the German Research Group at Baalbek. |
