Pittman, Holly (American)
is the Curator for glyptic art at the Near Eastern Section of the University of Pennsylvania Museum and Director of the Center for Ancient Studies. She was awarded a PhD in 1990 for her work on Glazed Steatite Glyptic Style: The Structure and Function of an Image System. She is currently involved in several field programs in Turkey (Hacinebi, Titris Höyük, Arslantepe), in Syria (Tell Brak), and in Iran (Jiroft, Tell-i-Malyan, Sialk). Her work is focused on the analysis of the iconography of ancient documents, more specifically seals from the Late Prehistory (Late Chalcolithic and Bronze Age periods). Her latest book, translated into Persian in 2003, is the following : H.
