Eidem, Jesper (1956, Danish)
is Associate Research Professor, Carsten Niebuhr Institute, at Copenhagen University (Denmark). He took part, as an archaeologist and an epigraphist, in archaeological excavations in Iraq (Hamrin region) and Syria (Tell Brak, Tell Leilan), directed the Danish Archaeological Expedition to Tishrin (Syria) and is presently director of the Danish Archaeological Expedition to Tell Aushariye (Syria). A specialist of cuneiform texts and of the history of Northern Mesopotamia, he published 3 collections of cuneiform texts from early II millennium BC Northern Mesopotamian sites (Tell Shemshara, Tell Leilan) and ca 40 scientific articles about Northern Mesopotamia in the Bronze and Iron Ages (including a number of excavation reports and editions of epigraphic texts).
